Africa
The project aims to develop sustainable and inclusive tourism in Saadani/Bagamoyo, Mafia Island, and Kilwa by assessing their carrying capacities and creating 10-year tourism plans through participatory planning. The process involves data collection, field missions, and stakeholder consultations to identify and prioritize actions for economic potential while protecting natural and cultural assets. The approach includes fostering public-private partnerships, scaling up sustainable practices, and integrating global and local tourism trends with a focus on gender equality and empowerment. The final plans are to be validated at the national level and contribute to the National Strategy for Coastal Tourism.
CYE was responsible for the provision of 1 Senior Expert throughout the contract, for a total of 105 working days.
